My Sunday Reset Routine: Setting the Tone for a Peaceful Week

There’s something special about Sundays on the farm. It’s our day to slow down, reset, and get the house (and our hearts) ready for a fresh new week.

We start the morning with church, and after that, it’s all about creating simple rhythms that make the week ahead feel calm and intentional. This includes good food, a tidy home, and a few comforting routines that bring everything back to center.

Fresh Bread, Fresh Start

One of my favorite parts of Sunday is getting a fresh loaf of sourdough started. I’ll feed my starter early in the day, and after church, I get the oven warming up to bake a loaf for the week.

It fills the whole farmhouse with the coziest smell, and there’s something grounding about starting the week with something homemade and nourishing.

While I’m doing my stretch-and-folds, I’ll usually throw in a couple of loads of laundry. We’ve been using a Speed Queen washer and dryer, and I can’t recommend them enough. They’re old-fashioned, fast, and honestly one of my favorite “practical luxuries” in our home.

A Whole-House Reset

After the bread’s going and the laundry’s rolling, I love spending the rest of the afternoon giving our home a little love. It’s never about perfection — just a clean slate.

Here’s what that looks like for us:

  • Running our Shark Robot Vacuums — we have one on each floor, and they’re lifesavers with three dogs and two cats.

  • Running our vacuum mop to pick up whatever’s left behind (it vacuums and mops at the same time — game changer).

  • Wiping down all the counters and tidying up the kitchen.

  • Watering every single plant in the house — it’s become my Sunday rhythm, and I actually look forward to it.

  • Doing a quick pick-up in every room so we start Monday feeling organized.

  • Throwing in a few loads of laundry throughout the day with my new favorite laundry detergent that smells so fresh and clean.

Simple Errands & Little Joys

Sometimes, we’ll grab a fresh bouquet of flowers at the grocery store and swing by our local farm store for a fresh gallon of local milk. It’s a small thing, but those simple errands make me feel connected to our community and help set the tone for a slower week.

Sunday Snack Prep

I love prepping a couple of easy things in the kitchen for the week ahead — lately it’s been homemade granola bars or protein balls. It’s such a good feeling knowing there’s something healthy and homemade ready to grab when life gets busy.

(Stay tuned, I’ll be sharing my favorite weekly snack prep recipes soon!)
